Photo of Da day @ Da Pine #149

This Sharp-shinned Hawk (Accipiter striatus) was on the prowl looking for a late afternoon meal at Bosque Del Apache, NM. I am not at all an expert on any of the birds I photograph and my ID skills are much slower than my photography. So if there is anybody that can correct me, I am open to help.

I love the look in his eye, glad I was the hunter and not the hunted. But it put a little shiver in me anyway.

    1. Aaron, thanx for the encouragement, it warms my heart to share my work. I have been a photographer all my life, but have just discovered birds, wildlife and bugs, what a great awakening it has been…..en theos..jim

    1. Katie…..thanks, yes Bosque is an amazing place for birds. I really didn’t know what a world class location it is. We were so blessed while there. I had been watching the bird counts and there were 20K Sandhill Cranes and snow geese the two days of our visit. A couple of days later there were only 200. The Hawks were just amazing.I can wait for a return trip in a couple of months…en theos…jim
