We had this young male Summer Tanager (Piranga rubra) show up at the feeder in our backyard. He eventually was joined by the rest of his “season” and we ended up with  10-12 of them. They feasting on the seed, us on their beauty. Makes one feel blessed to find such treasure so close to home.

Made this one with my new 500mm lens. Just had to get some long glass. Now to get myself in shape to carry it around. It is a bit of a beast, and will be a test for me to carry it on the trail.
