We were returning to our room in Mesilla NM after a pleasing meal at Josefina’s gate. We had rounded the corner and were near the entrance to our room when we encountered “Gold Hat”. He had a great bluff working and stoutly proclaimed he was with the Federales and did not permit travel down “his” road. I put on my best Bogart and demanded to see his badge. You know his reply.
