DSC_5071 copyAMore beauty & mystery from the desert rain.

The rain does bring out the beauty of the desert. On a morning walk after a rain I found these little beauties in full bloom. I didn’t have a camera with me. I figured no problemo, I would catch them on the evening walk. That evening, same day, there was not one full bloom, nada, nothing, zip. Flowers were closed as tight as a young cowboy’s Wranglers. So being the optimist, I figured them for morning bloomers and I would get them the next morning.

I came back the next morning knowing I would find the field once again filled with these dazzling golden blooms. Most of the blooms, in a 24 hour time, had their blooms  turning into seed pods. I found a few with partially open flowers. By the afternoon the pods had opened and thin black seeds were being dispersed into the breeze.

Always carry your camera, as Paladin ( one of my favorite TV westerns from the 1950’s) HAVE GUN  CAMERA WILL TRAVEL.

I didn’t work very hard at this lovely bloom from Lake Brantley State Park NM. I was too busy taking it easy, getting my head back into going home. I picked up this small flower and framed it against the setting sun, all while sitting in my lawn chair. I felt guilty for letting the moment pass without recording it. Abba gives us simple pleasures on our self made difficult journey.

“Still – in a way – nobody sees a flower – really – it is so small – we haven’t the time – and to see takes time, like to have a friend takes time.”     Georgia O’Keeffe

My muse and I went to Marfa, TX last night to watch Carolyn Wickwire transform herself into Georgia O’Keeffe in the play titled “O’Keeffe”. Ms Wickwire was mesmerizing in her metamorphoses and at times I felt I was watching and hearing the real Ms O’Keeffe. Not that I would ever expect her to share her vision in any form but paint.

Take time to see the flowers and have a friend on your journey†††nada te turbe††††††jim

Sometimes you’re going to take a few pot shots before you find heart.I know, two Bindweed bloom photos in a row, but my muse (aka wife of 42 years, Susan) found this little bloom this morning that had been eaten on by some bug and it had left this perfect heart sized bite. Hard to walk by that!Find your heart no matter how many tries it takes††††nada te turbe††††jim
