We have a lot of ice and sleet and while it looks like a bit of a winter wonderland. The cold air cuts through my recovering lungs like a razor. So, I am kind of stuck inside with the warmth of a fire and my loving wife.

While looking through images gone past, I found an interesting pair of matching designs from two totally different origins. The one on the left is a New Mexico designed door, and the image on the right is a God designed assassin beetle.

Kind of makes you aware of where the grand sense of design begins. ††† en theos ††† jim

THE BLUE DOOR & GATE

In traveling to New Mexico, I am pulled to the warm way of gates and doors there. This one in La Mesilla is one I have drifted by for almost forty years.

During all seasons it beckons. It begs me to hear the weathered squeak as I let myself enter. Ah, to have the courage to cross, to share my story with the walls and the occupants, just so I could hear a little of theirs.

It would be worth the price of admission I’m sure. ††† en theos ††† jimwork

I have been thinking a lot about the choice we all have about the narrow door or the narrow gate.

Matthew has it as the gate: “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Matthew 7:13-14

Luke has it as the door (depending on which version of the bible you read, KJV has Luke defining it as a gate): “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.” Luke 13:24

Mark does not mention the gate or the door.

Any how, as Luke and Matthew tell you, be it the gate or the door, only a few seem to be able to either find it or get through it.

I’m still a looking, but those freeways while they are faster,  the blue roads are so much more interesting…..either way, make sure you pay the toll!

More magic of the doors & gates of New Mexico.

It just blows me away at how creative folks can be and work with what materials they are given. Some might see this as junky and it probably wouldn’t pass code in all townships.

I find a sense of design and order in the clutter of it all. It makes me smile and plays music to my eyes.†††††en theos……jim

A WARM & WELCOME DOOR IN T or C, NM

The Apostles Heal Many

12 The apostles performed many signs and wonders among the people. At first glance you become excited. Finally, an open door, but then as your eyes devour the scene, you find that the open door is off it’s hinges. There is a sign that tells you it is private.

Beyond that door lay several others. They too are off their hinges.

You wander on down the street feeling like you weren’t invited to the party.

LET SLEEPING DOGS LIE !

Okay, I am still working on my door/gate search, but I just couldn’t pass this one by. It is a nice complement to my earlier beware of dog image.

In this one, the dog is not one of those “is there really a big dog or a poodle” kind of moments. You don’t have to wonder of what it is you are to beware. Then when there is also a police car parked outside with K-9 warning sign. You should get the message. This is not a gate that I need to go through.

Heed those signs, hopefully they will eventual lead you to that narrow path††††††en theos††jim

ROAD WORK AHEAD ?

I found this road sign while strolling about a small village in New Mexico looking for interesting doors to photograph. I am looking for doors of all kinds, both physical and spiritual.

This sign, with the gang tags on it, did indeed indicate that there was indeed a lot of road work ahead. Who is going to step up and go through that door ?

I am sure it isn’t me. You will find me down the road at the stop sign waiting for traffic to clear. I got places to go, doors to look for and go through just like most all the rest of us.

So, again who goes through those doors that no one else wants to enter ?
