“Love the things you’ve got until one day you realize that the life you have is the life you want.”
Kirsten Hawkins, age 15
I am still trying to adjust to the time change. I am sleeping later and the golden hour seems so short. I just feel like I am just floating along. Then I read the temp is dropping into the twenties tomorrow. Not sure I am at all winterized yet.
We have been blessed with very spring like weather the last few days. It has been shorts and t-shirts the last few days. Hope the trees and plants are a little wiser than me and do not bud too soon. I can remember several Easters where we have had ice and snow.
I have been delinquent on my posts lately. Resistance comes at you in many forms. For more than a week, mine came calling with a nagging cough that settled in my chest as bronchitis. My body went into a defensive move of slow motion. I slept away many lost hours. No sense in pining over that. Attempting to gather myself together, to see, find and make some images. I feel as though like I am passing through a zone of limited vision. A slight fog or more likely blowing dust here in the desert. In the mean time, I am pulling from the library of past times.
This lovely door was one of several in a line of small apartments in T or C, New Mexico. The colors warmed by the setting sun reflect such a glow. A nuance of bounty, of simplicity. Warming, giving off a calm amongst the vibrance.
Enjoy what you may see today. ††† en theos ††† jim
Somedays you get wowed twice in one place. This was the view looking opposite the sunset in yesterdays post.
West Texas skies can make you pause, reflect and be wowed. Sometimes more than once.
“Lost, yesterday, somewhere between sunrise and sunset, two golden hours, each set with sixty diamond minutes. No reward is offered for they are gone forever.”
Horace Mann

Got my lazy self out of bed for the sunrise yesterday. Dogs, rabbits, deer, camera and Nina Simone playing in my ears and I’m feeling good.
“Feeling Good”
Birds flyin’ high, you know how I feel
Sun in the sky, you know how I feel
Breeze driftin’ on by, you know how I feel
It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me.
Yeah, it’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me, ooooooooh…
And I’m feelin’ good.Fish in the sea, you know how I feel
River runnin’ free, you know how I feel
Blossom on the tree, you know how I feel
It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me,
And I’m feelin’ good
Dragonfly out in the sun, you know what I mean, don’t you know,
Butterflies all havin’ fun, you know what I mean.
Sleep in peace when day is done: that’s what I mean,
And this old world is a new world and a bold world for me…
Stars when you shine, you know how I feel
Scent of the pine, you know how I feel
Yeah, freedom is mine, and I know how I feel..
It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me
And I’m feelin’… good.
Hope you’re feeling good! ††† en theos ††† jimwork
“Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.”
― Rabindranath Tagore
We have been so blessed with our weather (rain), cool temperatures, lots of bugs & butterflies, and some of the best southwest Texas sunrises & sunsets. This view was given to me earlier this week on our evening walk with Clovis & Grace. A little more than a block away from my home I came upon this structure and view. I have walked past a thousand times giving it little more than a glimpse. On this evening it was aglow in that brief gift of the golden hour and one just had to stop and admire. To wonder not only of God’s work, but what man had long ago crafted this gate. Before there was a neighborhood, it was his ranch, his land and I had never walked by.
Gates are made to both keep out and to let in. It let in a moment of wonder and reflection that now sits in my overflowing cupboard of life’s blessings.
Are gates keeping you out or letting you in? ††† en theos ††† jimwork
We went for a walk with our dogs in the cool of yesterday’s evening and were just frozen for a small moment in the beauty we so often walk right past. To think that the light that now refracted through our atmosphere to frame this mesquite tree and reflect into my heart, just eight minutes ago was 93,000,000 miles away. Now that is a moment to ponder.
” When I admire the wonder of a sunset or the beauty of the moon, my soul expands in worship of the Creator.” – Mahatma Gandhi

I love the mystery of looking at an image and trying to figure out if it is a sunrise, or a sunset. Is it the start of a day or the end of a day. Because it can get complicated. If you are nocturnal and it’s a sunrise it is the end of your “day’, where as if you are diurnal and it’s a sunrise, it is time to start your your “day” !
There there is a third group, those that are active in the twilight: they are known as crepuscular. I think most of us photographers are of this group. The thought of just wandering around during dawn and dusk of God’s golden light hours would seem a very nice place to be.
Find yourself in God’s golden hour, no matter what time the clock reads on your journey†††nada te turbe††††††††††††jim
