To everything there is a season:

There is a time for everything,

and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die,

a time to plant and a time to uproot,

a time to kill and a time to heal,

a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh,

a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,

a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,

a time to search and a time to give up,

a time to keep and a time to throw away,

a time to tear and a time to mend,

a time to be silent and a time to speak,

a time to love and a time to hate,

a time for war and a time for peace.

Yesterday we posted Locoweed in bloom and today we have a caterpillar working his way around and over a yet to bloom Ocotillo. He didn’t find much to feed on, but he fed my soul with the promise of a sure sign that warmer days are to come.

For sure only a face for mama to love, but would love to see it again after metamorphosis.         en theos ††† jim

“The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see nature all ridicule and deformity… and some scarce see nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself.”

― William Blake

I do long for the new start that comes with Spring. I so enjoyed and envied this big specimen at Ft Davis National Historic Site that was beginning to show sign of becoming green. Despite all the warning signs around it that cautioned me to stay away because of the danger of falling limbs, it was becoming Spring itself.

Ah, that I should  be so old and be considered dangerous. As a man, I flat out love that hope that I could be dangerous.

Enjoy life!   en theos ††† jim

We have been blessed with very spring like weather the last few days. It has been shorts and t-shirts the last few days. Hope the trees and plants are a little wiser than me and do not bud too soon. I can remember several Easters where we have had ice and snow.

“Flowers… are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty outvalues all the utilities of the world.”   Ralph Waldo Emerson

Our high is supposed to reach close to 90 degrees today. I wish I could just enjoy it and not pine for more. Knowing that winter will return and wrinkle any too soon growth. I somehow apply that logic to me and feel scared that even at my age I could prematurely bloom.

Our weather today is so pretty and yet it draws heavily upon my heart.

I wish and wonder for summers rebound.

A bud, a bloom, baby birds hawking for mothers return

I long to mount the road, a blue road.

Flowers abound away from urban sound.

I long for flowers and small roads, the fading of  human touch

To be adrift with the sound of nothing but the quiet heartbeat of nature.

Spring is slowly coming to the Southwest desert. The roadside are showing a bit of color despite are desperate lack of rainfall.

It helps me to grow into the next season of life even if a might be a little behind the flora & fauna. I feel winter will be my season for a bit more. Pray for rain or whatever you might need to bloom into the next season. Grow at your own pace.

It was a nice spring day in Alpine today. It got up to almost 90 degrees this afternoon. I was tramping around my grounds and I noticed that Spring is showing in the weeds. I found 6-8 different little weeds holding just incredibly beautiful flowers. Most are very small, this one was about an 3/4 of an inch in diameter.

It was great fun to pull out the micro and play with God’s work. It filled me with the wonder of finding a hidden treasure. Even if it was there all along.

Ode To A Cardinal

A Poem by Beautifully Tragic xPoetry Queen

To the cardinal that lives in my backyard.

So handsome,

Admirably dressed from head to toe

In your crimson red jewels.

Prancing around in the trees,

As you and your love builds a strong home

To soon host little ones and watch them grow

Into the mirror image of their glorious father..

or the mystic beauty of golden brown

While being drowned in a mother’s love.

Spring has sprung,

And you’re both busy as ever

In the circle of life.

Put on a little color on your journey†††nada te turbe†††jim

Ah, at long last, leap into spring. Spring arrives today and it came in with a return to cooler temps. Close to freezing this am, but the 55mph winds have blown themselves out, at least for this morning.

Time change, Spring break, St Paddy’s day, I may celebrate spring by taking a nap. Plus, I had to change a light-bulb this morning. Glad my wife has the energy to jump!
