IMAGES OF SMALL – THINGS FROM THE BIGGEST COUNTY IN TEXAS #646 – View out my window yesterday morning

As I sat doing my morning readings, I was greeted with a light fog that was floating just off the surface of the desert. It diffused the sunrise in the east and created this soft pastel glow on the Twin Sisters to the west. Despite the 25 degree chill in the air, my heart received a much warming feeling. Made me feel very blessed to have this right out my window.

enjoy your day, find some warmth for your heart.††† en theos ††† jim

“You think this is just another day in your life. It’s not just another day. It’s the one day that is given to you today…. It’s the only gift that you have right now. And the only appropriate response is gratefulness.”   Brother David Steindl-Rast

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me”… Matthew 25:35

He replied, “You know the saying, ‘Red sky at night means fair weather tomorrow, 3 red sky in the morning means foul weather all day.’ You are good at reading the weather signs in the sky, but you can’t read the obvious signs of the times!    Matthew 16:2-3

I had heard this expression all my life, “Red sky at night sailors delight, red sky at morn sailors take warn”. I also have read Matthew several times and my mind must surely have drifted as I did not know that this saying was that old and that it came from the lips of Jesus.

Pay attention to the sunrises & sunsets. More importantly pay attention to your reading & the signs of the times! ††† en theos ††† jimwork

If you follow Anne Lamott, most of all our prayer fall into one of three categories: HELP, THANKS & WOW!

I think this one feel in the midst of the last two. From north of the livestock barn on Tuesday eve. Now on Wednesday, not a wink of sunshine. THANKS for the rain though.

Got my lazy self out of bed for the sunrise yesterday. Dogs, rabbits, deer, camera and Nina Simone playing in my ears and I’m feeling good.

“Feeling Good”

Birds flyin’ high, you know how I feel

Sun in the sky, you know how I feel
Breeze driftin’ on by, you know how I feel
It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me.
Yeah, it’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me, ooooooooh…
And I’m feelin’ good.Fish in the sea, you know how I feel
River runnin’ free, you know how I feel
Blossom on the tree, you know how I feel
It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me,
And I’m feelin’ good

Dragonfly out in the sun, you know what I mean, don’t you know,
Butterflies all havin’ fun, you know what I mean.
Sleep in peace when day is done: that’s what I mean,
And this old world is a new world and a bold world for me…

Stars when you shine, you know how I feel
Scent of the pine, you know how I feel
Yeah, freedom is mine, and I know how I feel..
It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me
And I’m feelin’… good.

Hope you’re feeling good! ††† en theos ††† jimwork

IMAGES OF SMALL THINGS FROM THE BIGGEST COUNTY IN TEXAS #577- a morning mixed with dew and early sun

I tried to just sit on the porch and do my morning readings and meditation.  But the sun was out for the first morning in a while and our field was reflecting that calling light off the morning dew. I just had to go and wander through it.

“The person who doesn’t scatter the morning dew will not comb gray hairs.
Hunter S. Thompson

Images of small things from the biggest county in Texas #553 – Once again a not so small thing, but what you going to do?

13-08-29cat sunrise_8518

I was awakened early yesterday morning. It was still dark o’clock as I wandered outside to feed the cats. The sun was still an hour from rising, but  there were some interesting clouds resting on the horizon.

I came back inside to work on yesterdays post. As I did and I listened to my own words about accepting what you are given. All the while thinking of the pending sunrise. I finished my post and grabbed Kon and tripod headed back out to greet the sunrise. It was warming and forming nicely and I quickly saw that while I had a great background, I had nothing for foreground. I set up the pod and went to self timer mode and was busy trying to frame myself in the foreground.

I had misplaced  myself  in three exposures and was behind the camera trying to calculate where I should be placing my silhouette. One of my curious  cats hopped up on the fence as if to say how about if I sit right here Mr DeMille, and then I will slowly walk back and forth across the top of the fence. How will that work for you?

Ah, the pleasure of taking what you are given. ††† en theos ††† jim work

Praise the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty. 2 He wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent 3 and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters. He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind.      Psalm 104:1-3

May the light slowly fill in your shadows today.

“Little one living among the shadows dark
Waiting seemingly for that one dear true spark
Filled with love concern and grace
What sort of anxieties or despairs must you face
You shine your light as bright as you are able
But are met with brokenness of life unstable
Feelings of loneliness surround you each day Searching for someone, something to show you the way
Back to the joy you once knew days ago
Days that you remember but are missing so
Oh little one may you find your way back
To the heart filled with hope that you once had”

I found this poem but I do not know who wrote it, but it sums up my feelings for this day.

Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.”…Don Williams, Jr.

Let your mind start a journey thru a strange new world. Leave all thoughts of the world you knew before. Let your soul take you where you long to be…Close your eyes let your spirit start to soar, and you’ll live as you’ve never lived before.”…Erich Fromm

To get through the hardest journey we need take only one step at a time, but we must keep on stepping”…Chinese Proverbs

or as Nike used to say,  “JUST DO IT” !!!

For ages with all kinds of deep sayings, man has been speaking of the journey from their heart. Is your journey of the heart? Are you on the right road ? Where is that narrow path and will my wide load make it through ?
