IMAGES OF SMALL THINGS FROM THE BIGGEST COUNTY IN TEXAS #680 – YOU EVER HAVE ONE OF THOSE PESKY KIND OF DAYS?

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Those pesky thoughts. As life goes on, everyday, memories are made. Focus on the good ones. Nothing good comes from focusing on negative stuff. Give nothing and no one power enough to ruin your day!

IMAGES OF SMALL THINGS FROM THE BIGGEST COUNTY IN TEXAS #678 – heck no the snow will stay to the north of us!

As we headed to visit family we were debating about not traveling all the way. It had never got about 20 degrees most of the day and was cloudy but dry. We checked accuweather, the weather channel and the local forecast. All telling us the snow would stay north and not fall here. So we stopped. This morning this was the view out our hotel window.

IMAGES OF SMALL THINGS FROM THE BIGGEST COUNTY IN TEXAS #676 – Onward thru the fog!

The last couple of mornings we have had fog. It is kind of a rarity here in the desert.  It has been nice, by not having it too often it seems to bring  clarity through it’s obscurity. There is the comfort of knowing something is there even though you can’t see it at the moment. I love living in the desert. It truly is a box of chocolates every day.

“Most of us live in a fog. It’s like life is a movie we arrived to 20 minutes late. You know something important seems to be going on. But we can’t figure out the story. We don’t know what part we’re supposed to play or what the plot is.”

IMAGES OF SMALL – THINGS FROM THE BIGGEST COUNTY IN TEXAS #650 – ONE DAY IT’S SUNNY…

The smallest thing around has been my lack of inspiration and the production of producing images.

I did this image at the end of New Years day, but for the most part have been feeling the effects of a slump in vision & inspiration. Some of it weather produced ( I don’t like getting out in the cold) and the other just a feeling, of for lack of a better word, hibernation.

Been looking a lot at other photographers work and while searching for inspiration, I have to admit to more of a feeling of envy.

Working at finding myself once again. Been searching for that a long time. Just when I feel I have found it, it fades like the setting sun.

Ah, what a strange weird trip it has been.

It has been a very trying week. We went to Monahans Tx to get several spring sports photos done. With the oil boom on in west TX., if you can find a hotel, you just plain don’t want to pay what they are asking for a place to sleep. A room at a hotel that two years ago cost us $75 now is over $300. So we took our little hybrid  travel trailer and stayed at Monahans Sandhills State Park. A nice facility and it always allows me a reminder of my childhood days in West Tx.

We got there on Sunday for work on Monday. We awoke to the early morning sounds of high wind gust and snow, yes snow blowing in horizontal alignment with the wind. The day ended up being a total wait things out in the trailer and hope we did also go horizontal in the 70mph gust. All work was blown away with the wind.

Tuesday fared a little better and we got one photo session done in an albeit blustery afternoon.

I then awoke at 4:00 am on Wednesday with the flow blown flu. Everything for that day had to be canceled and I slept 20 of the 24 hours. I managed to muster enough to get the trailer ready for travel and hooked up on Thursday and we followed the wind a 100 miles to home.

I feel cheated, I hate to lose that much time, every year the inflation on time seems as disproportionate as motels in West TX.

The wind was a blowing but I never found an answer my friend.

At long long last we have rain in West TX. The weather has cooled and we had a high in the upper 50’s today. Downright chilly for May in the high desert!

Last night a nice spring thunderstorm moved into our area. At 11:00pm, I set up my Nikon D300s and used a long ago purchased and unused lighting trip mechanism. It worked really nice for a cheap (err… inexpensive) China made electronic device.

This was a combination of 3 separate 6 second exposures.
