I have to admit that I felt a bit voyeuristic laying on my stomach in the grass & weeds & ants, trying to get these two mating butterflies (and I am apprehensive to say) in a good position to photograph.
I know way too little of the egg laying routine of the butterfly or whether or not if the parents are around when the eggs “hatch”. But it brings to mind, do the parents look at their offspring and state something along the line of “well they must look like your side of the family, cause they sure don’t look like mine!!!”

Butterflies have such short lives they don’t have time to look after their offspring. They don’t care anyway. Each caterpillar will change at the end in the same looking butterflies as their parents! Lovely photograph
