Hello there my old friend
Not so long ago it was till the end
We played outside in the pourin’ rain
On our way up the road we started over again

You’re livin’ out dreams of you on top
My mind is achin’ oh lord it won’t stop
that’s how it happened livin’ life by the drop

Up and down the road in our worn out shoes
Talkin’ ’bout good things and singin’ the blues
You went your way and I stayed behind
We both knew it was just a matter or time

You’re livin’ out dreams of you on top
My mind is achin’ oh lord it won’t stop
that’s how it happened life by the drop

No waste of time we’re allowed today
Churnin’ up the past, there’s no easier way
Times been between us,a means to a end
God its good to be here walkin’ together my friend

Livin’ our dreams
My mind stoped achin’
that’s how it happened livin’ life by the drop…DOYLE BRAMHALL

IMAGES OF SMALL THINGS FROM THE BIGGEST COUNTY IN TEXAS #585 – Fall shows itself slowly and then quickly fades to brown in west texas.

Growing up in West Tx, fall has always seemed such a blink. Here then gone before you even take notice. One of the advantages of growing older seems to be the pause that now comes with autumn. The colors are so warm, so pleasing. It is like God is giving us an appetizer of color to prepare us for the browning and gray coming of winter. Such a warming reflection from yellows and oranges.  Memories of past are triggered and last just a bit longer. It seems the one season of time that all slows down in a life that moves past too fast.

“Autumn. It’s crispness, it’s anticipation, it’s melancholia, it’s cool breezes replacing summer’s heat. It’s long days in the field, a harvest festival when work’s done, a cheering crowd in a football stadium, chrysanthemums punctuating a somber landscape. It’s Halloween highjinx, pumpkins grinning toothy smiles, the crack of pecan pressed against pecan. It’s the first curls of woodsmoke, fresh blisters from pushing a rake. It’s crisp and fresh and mellow and snug, solemn and melancholy. And it’s very, very welcome.”

IMAGES OF SMALL THINGS FROM THE BIGGEST COUNTY IN TEXAS #567 – A gate to the beauty of the end of day

“Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.”
― Rabindranath Tagore

We have been so blessed with our weather (rain), cool temperatures, lots of bugs & butterflies, and some of the best  southwest Texas sunrises & sunsets. This view was given to me earlier this week on our evening walk with Clovis & Grace.  A little more than a block away from my home I came upon this structure and view. I have walked past a thousand times giving it little more than a glimpse. On this evening it was aglow in that brief gift of the golden hour and one just had to stop and admire. To wonder not only of God’s work, but what man had long ago crafted this gate. Before there was a neighborhood, it was his ranch, his land and I had never walked by.

Gates are made to both keep out and to let in. It let in a moment of wonder and reflection that now sits in my overflowing cupboard of life’s blessings.

Are  gates keeping you out or letting you in? ††† en theos ††† jimwork
