IMAGES OF SMALL THINGS FROM THE BIGGEST COUNTY IN TEXAS #730 – LIVING LIVE BY THE DROP!

Hello there my old friend
Not so long ago it was till the end
We played outside in the pourin’ rain
On our way up the road we started over again

You’re livin’ out dreams of you on top
My mind is achin’ oh lord it won’t stop
that’s how it happened livin’ life by the drop

Up and down the road in our worn out shoes
Talkin’ ’bout good things and singin’ the blues
You went your way and I stayed behind
We both knew it was just a matter or time

You’re livin’ out dreams of you on top
My mind is achin’ oh lord it won’t stop
that’s how it happened life by the drop

No waste of time we’re allowed today
Churnin’ up the past, there’s no easier way
Times been between us,a means to a end
God its good to be here walkin’ together my friend

Livin’ our dreams
My mind stoped achin’
that’s how it happened livin’ life by the drop…DOYLE BRAMHALL

IMAGES OF SMALL THINGS FROM THE BIGGEST COUNTY IN TEXAS #699 – ANOTHER PURPLE SUNRISE.

I have been on this cycle of rising early. It has not been intentional, just one of those patterns that naturally occurs. It has been nice as the West TX sunrises have been so outstanding. Lots of colors and patterns put up by the Master.

While it is a quiet time, I am never alone. My dogs, Clovis & Grace are always ready to go no matter what time it is. I am also always greeted and joined in company by my cat Muffs. Muffs is the most social of the three strays that occupy our yard. Muffs was deposited as a newborn kitten by his wandering mom a few years ago. He always would take food but had a circle of defense that was about 10-12 feet. When Muffs was about 6 months old, I became determined to make friends with him. I sat on the ground for about 3 hours, tossing little morsels of chow to him. He always had this longing look that he wanted to be touched, but just needed some encouragement. Since that first reluctant behind the ear scratch, he now so enjoys my companionship. I savour  his curiosity in my making of photos and I swear, he comes to pose for me.

Enjoy your furry friends and the sunrise.   en theos ††† jim

IMAGES OF SMALL THINGS FROM THE BIGGEST COUNTY IN TEXAS #636 – BRIGHTEN UP SOMEONE’S MAILBOX !

13-09-25 pinkwall_0612 copy

No, I am not referring to throwing some bright paint on your neighbors mailbox. It’s too cold to be outside for that kind of a DIY. Although we might consider that for a warmer day.

I am referring that lesser known ritual, write someone a letter today. And, I don’t mean email. Dare I use the “S” word in this semi-cyber age. Yes, I mean snail mail. Sit your butt down by the fire, fix that second cup of tea and reflect on someone that has been on your heart. Blow the dust off some of that fancy stationery that you have stuck away in a drawer or closet.

Put your heart on some paper. We all have someone that we think about, we mean to call and email is so, well like the weather – cold. Hell, even the IRS takes the time to send you a real letter.  Share your feelings, make someone’s day. If nothing else think of the guilt you can shower down. Lick a stamp, well the postal folks already lick the stamp for you. Give someone the magic of a brightened mailbox.

Do you remember the first time you got a real letter? Do you remember the last time?

Enjoy the fun of writing with a pen today. ††† en theos †††jw

RIP TOMMY P ADAMS

Sorry for lack of post yesterday. My heart was somewhere else. Off today for a 500 miles journey to say goodbye to an old high school friend. One that for a time, we shared most everything. We had some true adventures together and I have had not near as many since we went our separate ways in the early 1970’s. Thought of him often but never quite enough to pick up the phone and reach out. Call a friend today, let them know what they mean to you, you won’t regret it…………Fly away friend, fly away.

The End of a Perfect Day

by Carrie Jacobs Bond Song

When you come to the end of a perfect day,
And you sit alone with your thoughts,
While the chimes ring out with a carol gay
For the joy that the day has brought,
Do you think what the end of a perfect day
Can mean to a tired heart,
When the sun goes down with a flaming ray,
And the dear friends have to part?

Well, this is the end of a perfect day,
Near the end of a journey, too;
But it leaves a thought that is big and strong,
With a wish that is kind and true.
For mem’ry has painted this perfect day
With colours that never fade,
And we find, at the end of a perfect day,
The soul of a friend we’ve made.

Ode to a Mockingbird  Rita Hestand Author

I love to hear the Mockingbird that sits up in my tree
I wonder why he sings so much, or if he sings to me.
He sits up on a branch so high, so he can fly away,
But I know that he likes it there, and that he wants to stay!

I love to hear the Mockingbird that sits up in my tree
If I could reach the limb he’s on, I’d put him on my knee.
I’d tell him what a joy he is, to listen to each day
And that I’d like to understand, just what he has to say.

I love to hear the Mockingbird that sits up in my tree
I wish he had a friend sometime, so happy he would be.
I guess that I could be his friend, for he does comfort me,
On lonely nights and rainy days, because I cannot see.

Be a friend to those who help you on your journey††jim††
